I AM ALL WOMAN PROJECT
I am all woman project started from a model called Charli Howard that was told by her model agency to lose weight if she wanted to be a model. So, after this incident, she decided to launch (together with another model called Clémentine Desseaux) All woman project. With this initiative, they wanted to stand up again those strict beauty standards that are imposed by the fashion world. They want to support diversification in all women. No matter their physical morphology, they all have the right to have their place in the media.
Nowadays, the body ideals have reached such an unrealistic point that it is being a big matter among young girls, causing food disorders and self-esteem issues. For many years, big brands have designed clothing for a small percentage of the population that had tiny sizes and this issue made everyone thought that we were all fat ladies who needed to be on a diet to fit that size. If you didn’t fit in a 38 (that could be your normal pants size) and you have to buy a 40 or sometimes 42, you fall in a deep depression thinking that you really have to lose weight in order to fit in that 38 again! You never think that it might be the pattern that have been cut in an impossible 38, you always think that it is your own fault, your body is not the way it should be.

Lately, more brands, celebrities and public figures have changed this trend of “unrealistic” shapes. Women with all kind of shapes and forms, tall or short, brunette or blond, all of them have their own kind of beauty. What is beautiful and what is not? Who says that a fat lady is more beautiful than a thin one? Stars like Beyoncé and Rihanna have change this point of view, as they have stand for a curvy and sexy body, a natural one. Furthermore, it is also important that this had lead a mayor influence of different ethnicities and nationalities in the media, another big debate in the fashion world.

There is a very interesting article in the magazine Fashion-era.com where they talk about beauty is shape: “Fashion is a shape, a changing shape. That shape is mainly formed and controlled by some device which affects part of the body’s natural outline. What is considered beautiful in the eyes of one race may be thought horrific in another. Beauty then is in the eye of the beholder, and for centuries beauty has been shape.”
At the end of the day, the most important is who you are as a person. There is nothing more beautiful that a woman with her own personality and principles, so we should stand for that! Besides all this, those women have created an account on instagram @allwomanproject where all women that want to participate can hang a picture of herself. So, we all have the possibility of being part of it. Would you do it yourself? Have an amazing day!
