ZERO WASTE ALTERNATIVES INSPIRATION LIST

ZERO WASTE ALTERNATIVES INSPIRATION LIST

There is a blog that I follow called Trashisfortossers that it is totally inspiring if you want to change your way of living in a more sustainable direction. She wrote this article about the ultimate list of zero waste alternatives in your day by day in order to reduce your trash and be a better conscious consumer. The idea is to re-use, recycle or use products that can be biodegradable.

I tried to do this list myself and I found out that I have almost everything that she suggests to start this process of 0 waste at home. I have a tote bag, who doesn’t? And you can use them as many times as you want. Tote bags are on trend now, there are different styles of them and some of them are made of recycled materials. If you can buy recycled toilet paper much better than a normal one, at the end they all go to the same place! Try to use cloth instead of paper tissues for the kitchen and try to hand wash them if you want them to last. Kitchen tools are better if they are made of wood than the plastic ones, as they are compostable.

There are many alternatives that I have been finding at home in order to consume less. To wash your face and body you can use a natural sponge like the one I am using from The Body Shop. I have this sponge for many years now and it is still in perfect conditions. So, this could be another alternative for the massive consumption of cotton pads. I got this bamboo toothbrush in a fashion event that I attended some weeks ago and it is certified non-toxic, gluten free and of course compostable.

If you are a coffee addict and you take 4 coffees a day (and you want to save money as well) there’s nothing better that the thermos bottle to keep warm coffee during the whole day without waste coffee cups every 30 minutes. I have discovered this tool late in my live but I bet that I can’t live without it now!

In regards of the hygiene, olive oil soap is one of the most natural and sustainable products for our skin. It has been used for hair, for acne and for many other skin problems. Olive oil has been used in soap making for thousands of years. This soap is very mild, long-lasting and can be used full strength on any skin type to help retain moisture and elasticity. So, this is another good alternative to prevent to the over consumption of beauty products.

There must be a lot more! I am sure that I miss a lot, but this could be a good beginning if you want to get the habit of become more sustainable in your day-to-day. Start with little things and you will ended up consuming less and saving a lot of money. Besides, you will contribute to a much better environment. I hope you like it and please, give me some more tips on how to do a proper 0 waste list! Have a wonderful day!
